SWOG is a national clinical trials cooperative group funded by the National Cancer Institute. The Statistical Research Associate (SRA) is a member of the statistical team of the SWOG Cancer Research Network Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) in the Public Health Sciences Division. The primary activities of the SWOG SDMC include 1) the design, implementation and analysis of clinical trials that assess therapeutic interventions for all types of adult cancers as well as cancer control and prevention trials; 2) support of translational research to target markers of disease prognosis and treatment prediction; and 3) development of methodology to improve clinical trials design.
Responsibilities
SWOG Statistical Research Associate I/II
Under supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of duties related to the statistical aspects of clinical trials or other research studies including review of trial/study design, development, implementation, monitoring, and statistical analysis using standard statistical software.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Statistical Research Associate I
- Provide support in the development of the statistical aspects of protocol development and implementation.
- Support the development the study-specific data collection forms.
- Assist in the development and coordination of the quality assurance procedures for on-going data collection and analysis.
- Assist the study team with the implementation of the study in the electronic data management system.
- Provide active monitoring of ongoing clinical trials.
- Prepare written summaries and tables of results for scientific reports and papers.
- Produce semi-annual study reports.
- Provide statistical analysis of clinical trial data using statistical software programs.
- Prepare and document data for archiving and data sharing.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Statistical Research Associate II
In addition to the job duties of Statistical Research Associate I:
- Provide input in the development of an analysis plan of translational medicine endpoints and implement the analysis plan.
- Present at meetings including oral presentations of trial results, trial design or aspects of trial implementation.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Statistical Research Associate I
- Master's degree in Biostatistics or Statistics.
- Background in statistical computing.
- Familiarity with statistical packages used within the department/project.
- This classification is intended as entry level for newly graduated MS statisticians or those having minimal (6-12 months) related experience.
Statistical Research Associate II
All minimum qualifications of Statistical Research Associate I, plus:
- Minimum of one year of related experience.
- Background in statistical computing.
- Proficiency with the statistical packages used within the department/ project.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of related experience in clinical trials.
- Understanding of statistical programming processes and best practices.
- Experience reviewing relevant sections of trial protocols and manuscripts.
- Understanding of trial setup and case report form design.
- Demonstrated ability to write reports for trial monitoring and data clean-up.
- Demonstrated success in working effectively with internal and external colleagues.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and regulatory requirements.
- Solid analytic thinking.
- Proven ability to multi-task and good organization skills. Good oral and written communication.
Statistical Research Associate I: The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,476 to $120,681, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Statistical Research Associate II: The annual base salary range for this position is from $84,490 to $126,714, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
