Description

November 15th, 2021

RE:                              Postdoctoral Research Associate Announcement

Faculty/PI:                   Ariel E. Marciscano, MD

Program:                     Radiation Oncology

Location:                     Weill Cornell Medicine – E-108B (1300 York Ave.)

Research Area:            radiation oncology, immunotherapy, tumor immunology, translational research

Position Description:

The Marciscano Lab in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) is seeking a creative, motivated postdoctoral research associate interested at working at the interface of radiation oncology and tumor immunology.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, collaborative and cohesive team of basic and translational investigators with an international reputation for expertise in the field of radio-immunotherapy. I am a Physician-Scientist and serve as Director of the Radiation Therapy Preclinical Core (RTPC) at WCM.

Our research and training program largely falls under discovery and validation of novel, effective and potentially synergistic combinations of radiotherapy and immunotherapy. Our work spans multiple scientific disciplines, including tumor immunology & immunotherapy, radiation oncology, cancer biology, and drug development (particularly novel RT-drug combos). We have a clear and deliberate translational focus in our lab rooted in robust preclinical mechanistic/scientific rationale and an ultimate mission to bring promising therapeutics to patients via clinical trials. Reverse translation is also an important aspect of our work, seeking to understand determinants of response and/or mechanisms of resistance in responders and non-responders using patient samples. Ample opportunity for career development, mentorship, innovation, autonomy, and individualized project design.

Current funded projects are highly translational with close interaction to the WCM Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) in Prostate Cancer involving single-cell characterization of the myeloid landscape of human prostate tumors and preclinical immunological characterization of novel radio-immunotherapy targets with potential to inform phase I clinical trials.

For more details on our projects – please inquire, we’d love to meet you!

WCM is an equal opportunity employer. We look forward to your application!
