Job Summary:
The Field MSL Manager will manage a team of field-based Medical Science Liaisons (MSL); overseeing the overall MSL plan and activities, as well as directly interacting with departmental head to provide regular updates on activities and performance metrics. The Field MSL Manager is also responsible for attracting, developing and retaining MSL talents, and will also provide medical and scientific insights as well as manage MSL projects and budgets.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage own local territory: meeting and engaging KOLs and HCPs
- Build a high performing MSL team, anticipate team need, and proactively address issues.
- Manages MSL projects and budgets.
- Motivate, lead and develop direct reports, and retain MSL talents.
- Lead development and implementation of field team plan.
- Maintain activity tracker/dashboard for HCP engagement for team
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with health care professionals, locally and nationally.
- Participates and represents Dendreon at various scientific/cooperative group meetings, nationally and locally.
- Works with investigators and/or Dendreon study coordinators to maximize enrollment in Dendreon-sponsored clinical trials.
- Implement routine field visits with MSLs and conducts mid-year and annual performance reviews with direct reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Provide consistent and professional supervision over field based medical personnel and provide direct and specific work assignments and tasks to direct reports.
- Build and maintain working relationships with internal business partners to successfully accomplish assigned direct and indirect work responsibilities.
- Oversee and assess appropriate MSL documentation and activities such as HCP interactions, site visits, and conference/scientific meetings.
- Support the identification and development of up-and-coming KOL.
- Build and maintain working relationships with internal business partners to successfully accomplish assigned direct and indirect work responsibilities.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of Dendreon's documentation files and/or databases.
- Develop and maintain accurate Dendreon reports and templates as requested.
- Adhere to all compliance and operating procedures per Dendreon's current policies.
Qualifications
- Advanced Degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, MSN, Advance Practice Nurse) or equivalent.
- 5+ years industry experience.
- Established long-term relationship with KOLs and HCPs in relevant therapeutic areas.
- Experience in the launch of multiple pharmaceutical products and indications.
- Excellent in communication and presentation.
- Experience in supporting life-cycle management of multiple pharmaceutical products.
- Demonstrated high degree of strategic thinking and decision making.
- Previous experience in managing individual contributors preferred.
- Travel will be required and will involve a minimum of 30%.
