A postdoctoral position in cancer immunology and immunotherapy is available in the laboratory of Dr. Irving Coy Allen at Virginia Tech. The candidate will study changes in the tumor microenvironment, innate immune system activation, and induction of the adaptive anti-tumor immune response following therapeutic interventions. We utilize a variety of techniques typical in the fields of immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and medicine. The laboratory is also internationally recognized for its work employing novel, pre-clinical animal models to solve complex biomedical problems. The project is NIH R01 funded. Duties will include in vitro studies, in vivo animal procedures, and human studies. Responsibilities will include experimental design and execution, data analysis, report and manuscript preparation, compliance with all health and safety regulations, and assistance with SOP development. Additional responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory. Ample opportunities for professional development will also be provided. The candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary team that conducts basic, translational, and applied research and will have extensive opportunities to participate in collaborations with other laboratories at Virginia Tech and beyond.
