Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 650+ provider multi-specialty group practice that has an excellent opportunity for a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Obstetrician to join an established OB hospitalist group of 5 physicians. Our program has been in place since 2009, the first of its kind in Idaho. The schedule consists of: full-time (1.0 FTE): 154 twelve-hour shifts per year or Part-time (0.5 FTE): 77 twelve-hour shifts per year. No call required.
The Saint Alphonsus OB Hospitalist physicians are patient safety coordinators on Labor and Delivery, supporting Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, OB/GYN physicians, Family Medicine physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives for full 24/7 continuum of care services for the Family Maternity Center, where there are over 1,400 deliveries annually with a low 21% cesarean rate for first time mothers.

Responsibilities include:
Manage the antepartum service and serve as MFM extenders
Triage arriving pregnant patients
Respond to obstetric emergencies including obstetric trauma
Provide consultation for Certified Nurse Midwives and Family Medicine physicians Surgical assist and back up for OB/GYN physicians
Manage labor and deliveries for women whose providers are not available and for women without an assigned provider
No on-call, office or GYN responsibilities!
Saint Alphonsus Maternity Services: Our hospital is a regional referral center with two Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, 24 hour in-house anesthesia coverage, a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, on-site gynecologic oncology, interventional radiology, pediatric surgery and pediatric gastroenterology, and the region's only ACS verified Level II Trauma Center. Additionally, the OB hospitalists have the privilege of caring for women seen in the resettled within the community through the Refugee Resettlement program.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists provide complete obstetric care and are dedicated to supporting your patients and their families through a complicated pregnancy, while providing state-of-the-art, high-quality perinatal care. They work in consultation with the primary obstetrician, as well obstetric hospitalists and neonatologists (as needed) to ensure the best care possible. Saint Alphonsus Maternal-Fetal Medicine has received special recognition and accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), which demonstrates their clinical excellence and commitment to high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services. Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides the highest level of care possible for infants. The NICU, which provides 24-hour, full-service specialty care, allows families from Boise and the surrounding areas in Idaho and eastern Oregon to receive expert treatment close to home. The NICU's team approach provides an atmosphere for parents and our expert staff to work together to achieve outcomes that exceed national benchmarks. Through special programs developed by the neonatologists and NICU staff, the Saint Alphonsus NICU length-of-stay and complication rates are significantly lower than the national average. Requirements:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Certification by the ABOG or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment
Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC - Boise
Desired attributes: team collaboration, leadership, willingness to develop and adhere to protocols, strong surgical and OB sonography skills.
